2010 - A Book Year in Review

I didn't read as much as planned but I had many other things to do so I'm after all proud I didn't give up on reading or blogging. I think I perhaps overdid it a bit too. I need to learn to keep it reasonable and not spend all my free time on the blogs. There is a real life after all and I should try to spend more time with the real world. But it's fun so we will see how I can manage that. Yes I'm a blogging addict.

Here are the stats for 2010:

122 books - woot

18 Megan Hart books - yes it's scary...I swear I'm not stalking ;)

41 Contemporary Romance - yep it's getting more and more

10 Science Fiction =( - me a bad geek

7 Historicals =) - steady incline

6 DNFs - I'm stronger than I thought

81 reviews - yes I'm shocked myself

Yeah I was shocked about how many Megan Hart books I read and that i just read 10 sci-fis. I have to redeem the latter in 2011. And only around 30 books I didn't review. That is wow but I think I should do less. I'm starting to feel pressured about reviewing so perhaps I should read more just for me. We will see how that works out.

On another note I signed up to 2 reading challenges and yeah I forgot them sometimes in January. I think I read at least 10 eroticas but no Outlander book so I think these challenges aren't for me cuz I'm too prone for forgetting them. *hides in shame*

But I read some really good ones this year. You can take a look at my full list here but I will tell you my personal Top 10 reads of 2010 (in no particular order) naw and give you the shortest explanation why *g*

• - Three Over Par by Cathryn Brunet - Wow, intense!

• - Amidst a Crowd of Stars by Megan Hart - So sad!
• - Succubus Shadows by Richelle Mead - Made my heart bleed!
• - Anytime Darlin' by Julia Rachel Barrett - Heartbreakingly real.
• - Double Cross by Carolyn Crane - Carolyn is made of evil!
• - Precious and Fragile Things by Megan Hart - Showed my I still can love non Romance books!

I'm also happy to have met so many great people this year. Blogging really connects and I can't imagine my life without some of them.

• - don't review so much and start enjoying the reading more

My September Reads

September sucked big time for me. Everything that can go wrong did exactly that but I won't give. I can be stubborn that way. Try to listen to Wonderful Life by Hurts real often and it gives me hope even if it makes me cry sometimes. There will be better times just have to be patient. =)

Book wise it was a great month for the most part. Here's what I read:

1. The Road to Shanhasson (The Shanhasson Trilogy, #2) by Joely Sue Burkhart (re-read)

I completely adore this series and in my vacay I wanted a book I knew I would love and enjoy so I picked it up again. And yes also my bad conscience came back to me and I knew I still had to review it so I started reading, or better said devouring it. You can read my rave about it's awesomeness here.

2. Size Matters (The Fringe, #1) by Stephanie Julian

Ohhhhh this book kept me awake till the middle of the night. It made me snort with laughter and OMHG did it make my bed hot. Wonderful read you really shouldn't miss. Steph knows how to write an entertaining book and you won't regret it. I swear. (my review)

3. The Darkly Luminous Fight for Persephone Parker (Strangely Beautiful, #2) by Leanna Renee Hieber

This series is so different from everything I read usually. Ms. Hieber's writing has such a lyrical touch- enthralling from the first page. I didn't like it as much as I wished to do but I enjoy it the whole time. I also talked it through with Caroline and you can read our ramblings here.

4. Where the Rain is Made by Keta Diablo
I'm not sure what to say about this book. Truth be told I didn't enjoy it much. I couldn't bring myself to continue reading it most of the time. It was a struggle for me. The romance wasn't like I wanted it to be. It felt too forced my taste.At first they hate each other and bang now all of a sudden they want babies and I just couldn't follow. It happened to fast and I didn't get all the explanations and reasons for their choices. I also found a pet peeve of mine in this book. I didn't get why the Native Americans sometimes had an "English" name like for example "Strikes First" and other have this kind of name in their mother tongue like e.g. He’evo’nehe. I know I'm picky. So perhaps I'm just not made for this kind of story. Many seem to love it. *shrugs*

5. Anytime Darlin' by Julia Rachel Barrett

This book touched my heart really deep. Wonderful heartfelt story that touches a topic I usually rather don'r read about- Rape. Julia made it work. It's not a sunshine and flowers book but how could it be with such a topic. I really enjoyed and I highly recommend it. I know I will read it again. (my review)

6.Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World #2) by Jeaniene Frost

I waited so long for Mencheres' story and I was thrilled to find this one in a book store. I just couldn't resist even though I shouldn't have. I really enjoyed it but the end was a bit too easy for taste. I loved to see Mencheres from a different side and OMG ceiling smex. But what I have to say: the cover is seriously O_o who's idea was it to add the blood? Did they do that with paint? I think that cover pro should search for a new job.

7. Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy #2) by Carolyn Crane

OMG this book nearly drove me crazy. I loved every second of it but the end was like WTF Nooooooo!!! I have no idea how Carolyn can do that to us. She can be the mean one as it seems. 8. Hurt Me So Good (The Connaghers #2) by Joely Sue Burkhart

9. A Safe Harbor (Building Sanctuary #1) by Moira Rogers

This book reminded me how much I love Moira Rogers novels. I completely adore their voice and the world building and characterization is always perfect.
I loved this story and OMG Seamus is made of awesome. Wonderful!
