My Geeky Desires - Clocks

Today I wanna show you a few clocks I found while searching for Xmas pressies. The problem with me and clocks is that I hate these ticking thingies cuz they just won't let me sleep. This steady tick-tock makes me crazy. I'm always lying there and wait for the next tick or tock. Drives me insane. So I browsed around and found some cute things. Ok some also make the annoying sound but I love them nonetheless.

First one is a dream clock for every booklover: The book clock. I would so buy this  one if I had some space in my bookshelves. But the way it is at the moment I need every free space I can get for books. I found this one here. The price is really ok and would look so great in a bookshelf.

The next one is really geeky and I always planned to buy this one for BF. The Binary Clock is more like art in my eyes and not easy to read if you don't speak binary. LOL

OK, I will explain it. Each vertical column stands for one number on a digital clock. The horizontal lines represent the binary values( from bottom to top: 1 2 4 8). You just have to add the illuminated values in each vertical line up to get the number. Take a look at the pic, I think it explains it really good. Found this clock on 1 of my favorite sites "Think Geek" here.

The third one is a bit like the binary clock but way easier to read. The Tix Clock is again divided in 4 separated fields. This time you just have to count the illuminated squares to get the digit. Found this one on Think Geek too. You can take a look here.

Oh I know this week is really geeky but what do you think?

My Geeky Desires – Girly USB Sticks

This week I will show you something I already have at home. I wanted a USB Stick I didn't forget at home and it should be cute so I searched the interwebz and found a wonderful solution for this problem. There are wonderful USB Sticks you can wear as jewelry and I knew the moment I saw them that I needed one.
I will show you my two favorites again.

The first one is the one I own. I got it last year for Xmas from my wonderful BF and I love it! Wear it nearly every day!

Take a look:

Nope that is not me in the picture. LOL

I'm way too lazy for taking a picture now.

So as you can see it's wonderful pearly and it has a wonderful shimmer in daylight! Inside the pendant in the USB Stick and I got one with 4GB. You can buy it here but the site is completely in German. Sorry didn't find it in English! To use the stick you have to take off the necklace. That's a bit annoying from time to time cuz you all know how easily they are put one.

The second one is so cute. It's from Swarovski and I have to say rather expensive. It costs 150€(=

225$) and I couldn't get BF to buy me this one. =(

To get the stick you just have to pull the head off and you can plug it in the PC. They also have other model but I like this one best. It's called Robot Naughty Raymond and I also love the name. Here's a link for all their USB Sticks and this site is in English too.

So what do you think about jewelry USB Sticks?

My Geeky Desires – Bad Weather

The last few weeks in Germany were rainy and stormy. That's so not my weather. I'm all for warm and sunshine so I definitely need something to light up these bad days.
Typical for me I couldn't find my umbrella a few weeks back so I searched around for a really cool one. Heather from Book Obsessed gave me a link to a wonderful website Geeksugar and I found an article about umbrellas. =)

Here are my two favorites:

The first one is my absolute favorite: The Lightsaber umbrella! Yes you read right!
lightsaber umbrella2Since I was a kid I always wanted my own lightsaber. Not one of these plastic thingies, I wanted a real looking one. But these are mostly way to expensive so why not just combine the wish with something practical like an umbrella? And never again it will be to dark under the umbrella.LOL And I want the red one. Yeah, I know only the Sith have the red ones but I'm a girls and I want the cloth matching color and that's red for me! You can buy it here, or so I think. I don't understand one thing on this website but the pictures are nice. Seems to be Korean or something like that. Damn!

The second one has a very popular theme: Twilight. You ask why is it geeky than? Because it has batteries. It's sold on a UK website here and it seems they know what to do when it's raining! LOL. Look here:

This one has many tiny LEDs and imitates an starlit sky. Isn't that cute. I have no idea what that has to do with Twilight beside that it sparkles, probably only to get more sales. But it's a lovely idea.

What do you think?

My Geeky Desires - Handbags

my geeky desires button This week is dedicated to the one desire all girls share: Handbags.

I’m really addicted to those and have more than I can count. You know, a girl needs a handbag for all possible occasions and for every pair of shoes or pants she owns. And don’t forget the skirts and gowns! ;-)
To reach this goal I’m always on a hunt for new ones. I stumbled across a few fabulous geeky specimen in my search and I will share two of them with you this week. Enjoy!

The first one is really geeky and I’m not sure if it’s really suited for daily life but it’s so cute. So here you go:

I can’t decide which color I love more. They are made of real keyboard keys and are handmade. I found these bags here and they are designed by João Sabino a Portuguese Designer. They cost 125€(=187 US$) each and I’m not sure if I can get BF to buy me one :-(

The next one was a discovery on twitter. I can’t remember how I found @Spoonfulofchoco but I was immediately in love with her Etsy shop here. She makes bags out of books. Yeah I know it sound horrible and mutilating but she only uses the cover and donates the book to the Refugee Center in Arizona called the IRC. So I can forgive the sin of harming a book. I choose the two I like most to show here:

Please take a look at her site here. She has many other wonderful bags and also makes a unique one with your favorite book if you ask her! And good news for me: BF said I get one for Xmas if I can decide on a book in the near future. And I can’t decide? Ahhhh! Any ideas? Please let me know!

You can choose 2 answers this time!

My Geeky Desires

Welcome to my new feature on the blog. After many hours of thinking about something to geek up the blog, this time includes spamming Heather from Bookobsessed(thanks again hon!), I came up with an idea to solve this problem. Most people know that I always find some strange things in the Internet I instantaneous adore. Most times these things are a bit strange and very much geeky but I love them nonetheless. So I thought I will share my addiction with you and will show you my love of the week here in this post. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

My first Geeky Desire is a real addiction you all have probably noticed. I love the Weighted Companion Cube. For all the none geeks, the WCC is of a computer game called Portal(=one of the best games ever) and it plays a special role in this game. First time I saw it I fell in love and since then it’s my little guilty pleasure. I just can’t stop searching the net about it. Here are my favorite findings:

I found these wonderful earrings here and I so want them. Aren’t they cute?

And they would match perfectely with this gorgeous necklace i found on Etsy:

So what do think?
